Great American Smoke Out Nov. 20, 2008

Interested in Quitting for the day or beginning on the journey to being a non-smoker? Nov. 20th is the American Cancer Society's Annual Great American Smoke-Out. There will be information to help tobacco users quit located at CCV, The State Office Building on Mineral St., Springfield Hospital, the Springfield Family Center and places around town.

The focus is to get tobacco users to think about quitting and using a designated day to begin the process. We know that on average it takes 7 attempts to quit tobacco before you are successful so why not try? Call STOP at 885-3646 x 1016 for information and ideas to help with cravings so you can be prepared for Nov. 20 if you are interested in begining the journey to be tobacco free.

Take it from me, if you listen to the suggestions, and develop a strategy with Anne-Ellen's help, you CAN quit. It will be four years in November for me, and I challenge anyone to contact S.T.O.P. and set a date to quit!
(p.s. - Here's a tip: If you feel like smoking, pick up the phone and call your support person BEFORE you pick up a cigarette!)
